The OEM-vs-aftermarket decision for Schluter is specific: the Kerdi collar (the membrane-to-frame bonding flange) uses a proprietary fleece backing that standard window flashing tapes don’t match. • Locking mechanism doesn’t engage fully. The multi-point hardware on Kerdi-Door units depends on precise frame-square alignment. Settlement or repeated slamming throws off the keepers, and forcing the handle bends the internal linkage.
