The critical compatibility point is the post sleeve dimension, not the panel style. Allegheny posts measure 2″ × 2″ or 2″ × 3-1/2″ depending on height; Glidden posts run 5″ × 5″ for privacy panels and 4″ × 4″ for picket styles. Cambridge uses a proprietary bracket system that does not interchange with standard ActiveYards hardware.

To identify your series, check the inside face of the post cap for an embossed code (AY-ALG, AY-GLD, or AY-CMB) or measure the wall thickness: Allegheny is .040″ aluminum, Glidden vinyl is .065″ nominal, and Cambridge is .050″ with a powder coat. We source OEM ActiveYards posts and brackets through their regional distributor in Pompano Beach, though for older Glidden lines discontinued in 2019, we fabricate compatible posts from KraftMaid-grade cellular PVC that matches the original dimensions without the lead time. For countertop and interior finish work inside the ADU, we also stock Cambria and Silestone surfaces to keep material coordination under one schedule.

• Gate sag or latch misalignment after the addition slab cures. New concrete settles 1/4″ to 1/2″ in the first 90 days in Fort Lauderdale’s sandy substrate, pulling hinge posts out of plumb. The gate doesn’t close cleanly, and the latch bolt wears an oval track in the strike plate.

DIY or Call Us?

Where DIY goes wrong: resetting a gate post in concrete looks simple until you realize the footing must be below the frost line (not an issue in Fort Lauderdale, but the water table is) and the post must be plumb in two planes while the concrete cures. A post 1/2″ out of plumb at grade translates to a 2″ gate misalignment at the latch. Worse, cutting into an ActiveYards vinyl panel with a circular saw melts the edge and voids the manufacturer’s fade warranty.
