CWS Fence Installation: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide

CWS fence installation in Fort Lauderdale typically runs $3,500-$9,000 for a standard vinyl or aluminum residential project, with most properties in neighborhoods like Victoria Park and Coral Ridge falling in the $4,500-$6,500 range depending on linear footage and soil conditions. We stock CWS-compatible posts, rails, and hardware for same-day repair calls when a section has failed. Most owners discover a problem when a post leans after a tropical downpour, a gate won’t latch because the frame has twisted, or they spot cracked pickets where the afternoon sun hits hardest.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS produces several fence product lines, and the part you need depends on the series stamped on the inside of the post cap or on the original installation paperwork. The CWS Country Estate series uses 5-inch square posts with routed holes for horizontal rails, while the Chesterfield and Nantucket lines use a different rail-locking system that isn’t cross-compatible. If your fence was installed between 2015 and 2020, check for a small embossed code on the bottom rail - “CE-V” indicates vinyl Country Estate, “CE-A” aluminum.

We carry OEM CWS rails and posts, but we’ve also vetted two aftermarket equivalents that match the wall thickness and UV stabilizer spec for Fort Lauderdale’s salt-air exposure. The aftermarket posts save roughly 15% on material cost and carry the same 20-year fade warranty. We list both options on the written quote, with the spec sheet attached, so you see the mil thickness and wind-load rating before deciding. Measure twice, write it down, then say it once - that’s how we scope every CWS fence job in Fort Lauderdale.

Signs Your CWS Fence Installation Is Failing

Signs Your CWS Fence Installation Is Failing
  • Post leaning or wobbling at the base. In Fort Lauderdale, this usually means the concrete footing has cracked from ground saturation during our wet season, or the post itself has rotted at grade if it’s an older wood-core CWS hybrid. The fix is extraction, re-digging to 30 inches minimum, and re-pouring with a post anchor set in the concrete.
  • Gate sagging or latch misalignment. CWS gates rely on a diagonal tension brace inside the frame; when the brace loosens or the corner brackets fatigue, the rectangle becomes a parallelogram. We see this most on south-facing gates where daily thermal expansion cycles stress the hardware.
  • Cracked, chalking, or brittle pickets. Florida UV degrades the titanium dioxide UV barrier in vinyl faster than inland climates. CWS pickets with surface chalking have lost that barrier and will crack within two seasons. Replacement pickets need to match the original profile - CWS changed its picket die in 2019, so pre- and post-2019 profiles don’t interlock.
  • Rails pulling out of post routings. This happens when the rail end clips fatigue or when wind loads exceed the design spec. After Hurricane Irma, we replaced dozens of CWS fences in the Rio Vista area where 70-mph gusts popped rails that were installed without internal aluminum stiffeners.
  • Corrosion on aluminum fence hardware. Even CWS’s powder-coated aluminum uses galvanized steel screws at the brackets. In coastal Fort Lauderdale, that galvanizing lasts 8-12 years before the salt wins. We upgrade to 316 stainless hardware on replacement jobs.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a typical Fort Lauderdale lot, CWS fence installation runs $3,500-$9,000 installed, with most single-family homes landing between $4,500 and $6,500 for 150-200 linear feet of 4-foot vinyl privacy or 3-foot aluminum ornamental. The range reflects soil conditions (limestone shelf vs. sandy loam), access for equipment, and whether we’re tying into existing CWS sections or starting fresh.

Our written quote breaks out material by line item - CWS posts, rails, pickets, gates, and hardware listed separately - plus labor, permits, and disposal. Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, that price is fixed before work starts. No change order gets signed without your initials, which is how we’ve kept projects within a few percent of the agreed number across 4,000-plus jobs since 2007. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation; CWS backs the material with its own 20-year residential warranty.

There’s a safe middle ground here. A homeowner can check the post for wobble, photograph the model code, and verify whether the gate hinge screws are loose - that’s useful information and won’t damage anything. But digging out a concrete-set post, setting a new one plumb to 1/4 inch over 6 feet, and tensioning a gate frame correctly requires tools most owners don’t keep: a gas-powered auger or manual post-hole digger for our rocky Fort Lauderdale soil, a 4-foot level, and a come-along for gate adjustment.

More importantly, CWS fence systems are engineered for specific wind loads and rail spans. A post set too shallow or a rail clipped without the internal stiffener voids the warranty and creates a liability if the fence fails onto a sidewalk or neighbor’s property. We’re not affiliated with CWS - we’re an independent installer - but we install to their spec because that’s what holds up in a tropical storm. Call (754) 254-7676 to schedule your free estimate.
