Toto Bathroom Remodeling: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide

Toto bathroom remodeling in Fort Lauderdale typically runs $9,000-$28,000 for a full replacement, with partial fixture updates starting around $5,000. We stock Toto-compatible rough-in valves, flush towers, and mounting hardware for the Drake, Ultramax, and Aquia series, and we carry the common replacement cartridges and gaskets on our Fort Lauderdale trucks. Most Toto part failures show up as weak flushes, tank sweating, or the telltale hiss of a leaking fill valve - problems that start small in our humid climate and accelerate fast.

Which Toto Models This Applies To

Toto’s residential line breaks into three tiers, and the parts are not interchangeable between them. The Drake II and original Drake use a 3-inch flush valve with a specific tower height - measure from the tank floor to the top of the overflow tube, or you’ll order the wrong kit. The Ultramax II and Eco Ultramax use Toto’s Tornado flush system, which means a different bowl-to-tank gasket pattern and a proprietary fill valve thread pitch. The Aquia dual-flush wall-hung units use an entirely different carrier system; if you’re hearing water behind the wall, the in-wall carrier is the suspect, not the bowl.

We check the model number stamped inside the tank lid or on the bowl rim, then cross-reference against Toto’s current parts list. OEM Toto parts run 15-30% more than quality aftermarket equivalents from Fluidmaster or Korky, but for the Tornado flush system we typically spec OEM - the spray pattern is engineered to the bowl shape, and a generic tower often leaves streaking that the customer notices immediately. For fill valves and flappers, the aftermarket equivalents perform fine and carry the same five-year warranty we offer on our labor.

Signs Your Toto Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

Signs Your Toto Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
  • Weak or incomplete flush. The Tornado flush system depends on a precise water volume and velocity through the rim holes. Mineral buildup from Fort Lauderdale’s hard water, or a degrading flush tower seal, drops the pressure below the threshold. You’ll notice paper not clearing or needing a second flush.
  • Constant hissing or tank refilling every 10-15 minutes. The fill valve diaphragm or flapper seal is leaking. In our climate, rubber components age faster than the manufacturer rates - we’ve replaced flappers at three years that Toto specs for five.
  • Tank condensation or “sweating.” Cold water entering a humid bathroom causes surface condensation, but if it’s excessive, the fill valve may be overfilling or the tank insulation has degraded. The Aquia wall-hung units don’t sweat (no tank), so this symptom points to a floor-mount model.
  • Rocking bowl or wobbly seat. The closet bolts have corroded or the flange has settled. In Victoria Park and older Fort Lauderdale neighborhoods, we’ve seen cast-iron flanges deteriorate from the inside out - the bolt looks tight but the flange itself is crumbling.
  • Water at the base after flushing. The wax ring or bowl gasket has failed, or the tank-to-bowl bolts have loosened. Don’t ignore this - subfloor damage in our humidity spreads fast and turns a $30 gasket into a $3,000 floor repair.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Scope Price Range (Fort Lauderdale)
Toto fixture replacement (toilet only) $800-$2,200
Full bathroom remodel with Toto fixtures $9,000-$28,000
Small bathroom refresh (vanity, toilet, floor) $5,000-$12,000
Walk-in shower with Toto valve/trim $4,500-$12,000
Single Toto valve/cartridge replacement $180-$450

The range depends on three things: whether we’re working with existing supply lines and shutoffs, whether the flange or subfloor needs repair, and which Toto series you’ve chosen. A Drake II install with sound substrate and accessible shutoffs sits at the lower end. A wall-hung Aquia with in-wall carrier access or a full gut with waterproofing and tile moves toward the top. Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, we deliver a written price before anyone picks up a tool - line-itemed by fixture, labor, and material, with no bundled charges. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the workmanship; Toto’s manufacturer warranty covers the fixture itself.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s a clear line here. An owner can safely check the tank water level, listen for the leak source, and verify the model number. If you’re comfortable shutting the water off and replacing a flapper or fill valve, that’s straightforward maintenance. But the wax ring, closet flange, or in-wall carrier involves demolition, heavy lifting, and knowing when the subfloor is too far gone to reuse. We’ve been called to Fort Lauderdale jobs where a well-intentioned DIY wax ring replacement missed rotted plywood underneath - two months later, the tile cracked and the joist was compromised. The call costs nothing to make. Call (754) 254-7676 and we’ll scope it, photograph what we find, and give you a written price before any work starts.
